I graduated from university in June 2013 having studied Drama, Performance and Theatre arts. During that time, I spent many hours volunteering to tutor English to the Chinese students at the university. During my study time I spent thousands of hours doing everything related to theatre, including physical theatre, theatre in education and classical theatre. While at university I started a theatre company called Freefall Theatre. As the artistic director of the company I would deal with large groups, communicating with people at different levels and it was vital to ensure it was understood amongst all the groups. This entailed adapting material to ensure it was understandable at all levels from marketing to actors.
As a director I spent a great deal of time teaching my knowledge of the theatre to people of varying ages. This included presentations as well written reports which I would use to ensure that we were reaching our goals and what were required from individuals. Theatre directing has been my passion for several years; before I went to university I was involved with local youth theatre groups directing children.

English is my first language and I have a keen interest in foreign languages and foreign cultures. I am no stranger to foreign cultures having spent a year living in Spain, I have also travelled throughout Europe and spent months at a time in France visiting my parents who lived there for several years. It is my intention to both further my understanding of China and the Chinese language but also my teaching ability.
