Korea. I’ve taught a variety of age levels in Shenzhen, Zhengzhou, Zengcheng and Busan.

Teaching Experience

*Shenzhen English Teacher, Yaohua Experimental School: I taught oral English for international high school students from Thailand, Burma and Myanmar. I also taught Grade 10 Literature and Grade 5 English. I created a variety of classroom handouts and activities, especially when no course workbook was available. I used a Shenzhen print shop to create my own teacher’s book of classroom materials. I relied upon classwork, the chalkboard, Q&A, choral rehearsal and the video screen. My first semester homeroom desk was located in an advanced Grade 10 class and my second semester desk was situated in a slower learning Grade 10 class. I utilized choral rehearsal, story time, dictation, games and puzzles. I was the only native English speaker who taught a full schedule of high school foreign language classes until the end of the second semester.

*Oral English, Huashang University – Zengcheng: I taught oral English at Huashang College, Guangdong University of Business Studies, Zengcheng. I followed the course workbook and my own lesson plan for each class period. I utilized the video screen, whiteboard, Q&A, fillin-the-blank, pop quizzes, etc. I also gave final tests and semester scores.

*Zhengzhou No. 9 High School EFL Teacher: In 2011, I taught the Canadian program, consisting of five English courses and 21 classroom hours per week, at Zhengzhou No. 9 High School in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, China. These were advanced courses for freshmen who one day hope to study abroad in Canada. The courses were Canadian Civics, Information Technology, Careers, Canadian Geography and Canadian History. My classes emphasized pronunciation practice, listening skills and understanding foreign cultures around the globe.

*ESL/EFL College Teacher: I taught freshmen during the autumn-winter semester at the Henan University of Urban Construction in Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, China. This consisted of 12 classroom hours at the university each week and four hours at children’s schools. The university courses were a history class covering the United Kingdom and the United States, oral English, and Sounds of English (Pronunciation). In oral English, the theme of each class period was a familiar conversational topic like the first day in college, hometown, shopping and sports.

*Children’s English Teacher: I’ve taught children’s English classes in Shenzhen, Pingdingshan, Yongmun and Busan. This included host family living room, game room, movie cinema and cultural centers. I also began taking online TESOL and TEFL courses.

US Summary

*Certificates: I’ve completed 120 hours of Serious TEFL, 50 hours of LinguaEdge TESOL, and other courses in Law of Real Estate Agency, Law of Contracts, and Retail Theft and Closed Circuit TV.

*Freelance Writing/Home Improvement: I self-published After Dark in 2015 and selfpublished Unequivocal Malice in 2004. After Dark is available at public libraries in Wisconsin and internet booksellers, Prior to that, I worked as an education reporter, sports editor and wire editor for various daily newspapers. Since 1989, I’ve done general home improvement work at our family’s middle-class suburban residences. I’ve hired a variety of different contractor crews. We’ve installed a new gas furnace, electric fuse box, basement sump pump, driveway lamppost, automatic garage door, hot water heater, upstairs bath tub, two toilets, and a new washer and dryer.
