Self-introduction:
Skills
I have worked in Finland as my first job abroad where I was teaching a variety of subjects: English to Finnish students, English to Russian students, English for Adult Staff, Drama and P.E. This was a European Union sponsored program of teaching assistants.
Later on in Taiwan I was teaching all levels and ages from kindergartens, through language schools and adult TEFL preparation centers to weekend university students.
Finally, since 2008 I´ve been teaching both Middle and High school English, Oral Skills (as a support to Common Core Standards of listening and speaking) and Global Studies (Project-based learning subject based on thinking global and acting local).
So I would say one of my best skills is quick and smooth adaptation to a new environment in any culture. Having had an experience with Chinese culture would only help me do my job even better.
Additional Information
As a Non-native speaker of English I can honestly say (and even provide evidence) of my fluency and near-native knowledge of English as a language and as a cultural instrument. Moreover, I´ve had an opportunity and a privilege to be born in a bilingual country (Czechoslovakia) and I was growing up on the crossroads of Slovak, Czech and Polish borders. Since my early ages I was used to listening to different languages. On top of it, I started with Russian in grade 3 and English in grade 5. Later on in my life I learned basic Mandarin in Taiwan and became fluent in Spanish. With all these languages around me I understand the learners of English as a second language. I know where their confusions might come from and how to overcome them and find learning pleasant.
