VIP can seeGreetings, my name is Justin Mingus. I am applying to the position of History Teacher. As a former undergrad and graduate student, I know how stressful a student's life can be. Thus, I believe that I am sensitive to their plight, and believe that this opportunity will allow me to better the quality of life of my students. Further, I know the stress that comes with working on a deadline, and I thrive under pressure. Lastly, I know that this employment opportunity requires diligence, meticulousness, and precision - not only for the students, but to represent the school as well also.
Speaking of students, for the last four years I have worked closely with them in the classroom at both Sharjah American International School in Dubai and Fullerton College, as well as outside of class, responding to their queries, needs, and worries. I know what is on many of their minds and how to respond accordingly. Further, I have worked in an office environment at Orange Coast Title, which has allowed me to gain important skills and experience in office life and decorum, filing, mailing, data entry, and more. Lastly, I have worked various retail positions for years, which have honed my skills in terms of customer service and satisfaction, as well as high-stress environments and deadlines.
I know that this position will have me working with students of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds, which I am more than comfortable with addressing. My travels abroad have allowed me to clock in just under 50 countries (especially thanks to Study Abroad programs at UCM and CSUF), which have put me into direct contact with a wide variety of people from even wider backgrounds. Traveling has also helped me to think on my feet, diffuse stressful situations, be spontaneous, overcome language barriers, manage my time well, and many many more important skills. In short, travel has allowed me to be more open-minded and less cynical - skills which I believe will aid me in this position.
Thank you for your consideration and I hope to hear back from you soon.
Warmest regards,
Justin Mingus
