Business experience:

Teaching:
I was an English teacher at South China Normal University from 2003-2004. I taught there two days a week handling a total a 20 periods a week. Thought it was a very busy two days I enjoyed my time teaching there. At night between the two days work I stayed in the school dorm, it gave me insights into the lives of the students at the college. The busy work schedule gave me an endurance that has carried on to many other jobs.

My next teaching job was as oral English teacher at Tian He College from 2004-2005. It was sort of a special arrangement because they had what you might call camps monthly where many of the students would leave campus and go to another facility where they would practice their oral English. I coordinated some activities, games and English lessons for their time in this special camp. At night sometimes we would have some cultural exchange time, I would teach them an American game and they would teach me a Chinese game. It also game me experience in managing groups and activities.

Taught at the Oriental English school in Bai Yun mountain for two semesters from 2005-2006. This was a similar experience to the Tian He college job. There were 20-50 students there at a time studying English communication skills. I was the only foreign teacher there at the time. They enjoyed getting to know me and my outgoing personality and sense of humor both made there stay their more enjoyable.

For the last four years I have been an oral English teacher at 西关外国语学校 (2007-2011). There are a couple of reasons for my long stay at this school including the fact they have been renting a house within walking distance of the school and three years ago a married a Chinese lady. The added responsibility of providing for a family has made me want to keep the same job longer. At this point I want to move on to another job. That will better suit my long years of experience.

ACME Trade company in 2010. I was the oral English teacher for a large international trade company’s head office in GZ. They loved my lessons and teaching them business English while listening to them communicate about their jobs was a learning experience as well as a good teaching opportunity. I hope that my experience as a business English teach will be useful in whatever field I move on to.

Ci Bo Net communications company in 2011. I am still presently teaching business and practical English at this tech company. There are 5-15 students a week and we have good solid conversations about business and cover many important topics like how to write business emails and how to handle phone conversations better.

I have had hundreds of hours of personal tutoring sessions from 2002-2011. Most of these have been students that I have found on my own or by word of mouth. All of my students have loved my classes. In the past 3-4 years I have taken on 4-5 new classes without doing any looking or advertising just from people telling their friends. I have gotten enough students where I actually considered opening my own English school in GZ. But most of these students want to study at night and on weekends and I find my nights are too busy. So I am looking for more of a day time job.

My teaching experience is extensive. For the last 9 year I have taught at schools from kindergarten to business training. I have taught at 华南师范大学, 新东方英语培训中心, 西关外国语中学和小学, ACME trade company, Ci Bo Net communications company and numerous other companies, schools and tutoring jobs. My experience speaks for itself as to my teaching and leadership abilities.

Sales:
After graduating from high school I started a small business in America for one year. This was a service oriented business where I went to people’s houses and companies to change the oil in their vehicles. As the owner of this business I had to build it from scratch. I designed the logo, chose the name for the company and sold the service to customers. My biggest customers during this time were two second hand car dealers. Every week or so I would change the oil in 5-20 vehicles depending on how many second hand cars they bought that week. This gave me some important experience in business and sales that I am sure will carry on to any future sales job.

In 2008-2010 some friends and I started a mail advertising company in Guangzhou. My chief role in this company was to go on sales meetings to businesses around Guangzhou city telling them about services and products. I was also the chief designer of our logos and worked with a computer programmer to make our website and keep it up to date. Being able to use computer software like Photoshop, Office, PowerPoint and Excel and quickly learn any other necessary software was extremely useful in the startup and running of our company. I found that being a
