Work Experience

2010 – 2011 CTLC Programme 2010/2011 – Associate Coordinator (Shenzhen, China)
Promoted within CTLC (www.chinaprogram.org) to one of four Associate Coordinator positions for the 2010/2011 academic year. Responsibilities involved supervising, training and evaluating new teachers in the programme, teaching model lessons to a variety of different age levels (senior & university in particular) liaising with the Shenzhen Government Education Bureau to place foreign teachers in appropriate schools, helping teachers through the inevitably persistent mishaps that occur on a daily basis when living and working in China, assisting in the selection of the 2011/2012 coordinating team and seeing to any other organisational requirements.

Feb – Jun 2011 OCT Training Centre – Kindergarten Teacher (Nanshan, Shenzhen)
For five months I taught twice a week at a training centre in the Huaqioacheng theatre building. I taught a class of thirty 5 year-olds twice a week basic English. We played word games, drew pictures and talked about them in English, played vocabulary based ball games and sang English songs.

2009 – 2011 Nanshan Second Foreign Languages School – Foreign Expert (Shenzhen, China)
Won 1 of around 100 placements from over 1,000 applicants with the Memphis-based CTLC programme. Relocated to China, trained in both TEFL and Intensive Mandarin at Peking University and was accepted by the Shenzhen Education Bureau as a Foreign Expert. My day to day role was teaching 17 classes of primary and junior level students oral, conversational and written English.

Summer 2008 BP – Procurement & Supply Chain Management Intern (Sunbury-on-Thames, London)
One of three interns taken from over 150 applicants, employed by BP for 10 weeks working in the Direct Procurement division of Refining and Marketing. Projects included identifying over $700m of unknown commodity spend, updating, improving and maintaining an online database of all Air BP’s UK mobile assets, visiting airport depots to liaise with and coordinate engineers on site and attending theory presentations, lectures and classes on BP’s sourcing methods.

2007 – Present Greenlight Search Marketing - Copywriter (Freelance)
Approached as an English undergraduate to write copywriting articles for Internet SEO company Greenlight. Paid by the article and on a weekly commission via email, I wrote on varying topics, from travel to insurance, personal finance, technology, green-living and consumerism.
