EMPLOYMENT

November 2010 – August 2011: Glyn Technology School
Position: Support Teacher
I have been working as a support teacher for the English Department. This has been a very challenging job, where I have been required to teach classes to unfamiliar groups of students. It has required a great deal of patience, control and the ability to form a rapport with students very quickly in order to manage the lesson successfully.
September 2009 – July 2010: Hubei University of Technology
Position: English Teacher Temporary
I taught English at Hubei University of Technology in Wuhan, China. I teach English to first year students, as well as a Business module to 3rd year undergraduates. I think I have learnt a lot from my time at HBUT. I like to be active in the classroom, and to make an effort to motivate students. I am outgoing and I like to create a fun and relaxed environment in the classroom, where my students feel confident to speak in public and practice their oral English without fear of mistakes. I know the importance of English as a communication tool, which is why I place a strong emphasis on class interaction when I teach.

January 2009 – August 2009: Verint Systems
Position: Sales Administrator Temporary
I worked as a Sales Administrator for a software company. This was a very broad role, involving generating licenses for business software, recording sales in applications such as Onyx and Oracle. This involved dealing with customers from the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES

 I was head of public speaking at my secondary school. Public Speaking competitions including Oxford and Cambridge Unions. I was an active member of the debating society at University.

 I was Chief Editor of my secondary school magazine ‘The Word’, published fortnightly. Jobs included writing and editing articles, as well as formatting and publishing the magazine.

 I worked for Leeds Student Television broadcasting team, specialising in sport and charity research.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 I am proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint. Typing speed of 70 wpm. I have strong interpersonal skills.

 From December 2007 – August 2008 I traveled around the world. During my time in New-Zealand, I was a classroom assistant at Rotorua Boys’ between January – June 2008. This included teaching sports classes and being a class monitor. This started my interest in teaching.

 I am pro-active, confident and energetic teacher and I am looking forward to starting work and taking on new challenges.
