I would like to continue teaching ESL, with the intention of becoming a fully qualified primary school teacher. I have five years teaching experience in China, working with a wide range of age groups, in particular with children and young people in an educational setting. I am a well-organized person who works well within a team environment. Experience English Teacher, Suzhou Foreign Language School, Suzhou, P.R. China September 2008-July 2011 I taught English to primary school students. I was involved in organizing English speaking competitions at the school and teaching cultural emersion classes for students traveling to the UK. I also hosted a signing ceremony between SFLS and several schools from the UK, to participate in an international school exchange program. English Teacher, English First, Ningbo, P.R. China July 2007-July 2008 I taught four to fifteen year olds oral English. Along with my regular teaching duties, I was involved in extra curricular activities such as ‘Life Club’ where students participated in separate classes, the idea was to have fun and make new friends in an English supporting environment. Activities included English corner, arts and crafts, baking, playing cards and going bowling etc. I also assisted in placement testing and demonstration lessons too. English Teacher, Shane English School, Beijing, P.R. China January 2007-July 2007 I taught at this school for seven months and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. My duties included providing English language tuition to local kindergartens, schools and Shane English school, in Haidian district Beijing. I also participated in training sessions and gave workshops to teachers. I delivered demonstration lessons on numerous occasions to prospective students and interviewed them too. English Teacher, English First, Yuyao, P.R. China January 2006-December 2006 My main responsibilities included teaching children and adult classes and one to one (VIP) students. I also gave demonstration lessons offsite, taught in private schools across the city and assisted in the placement testing and interviewing of new students. I became familiarized with a wide range of administrative duties which included maintaining student records, lesson planning and project work (cataloguing supplementary materials and giving workshops). My favorite books are the Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson, The Last King of Scotland by Giles Foden, The Oath: A Surgeon Under Fire by Khassen Baiev, Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak and Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernieres. I sometimes work as a volunteer for an environmental conservation group. I regularly walk in the countryside and go swimming. I am keen on travel having visited the USA, Western (Belgium, France Germany and Austria)and Eastern Europe(Hungary, Romania and Ukraine). I went to Madagascar in 2005, where I spent two months working for a conservation charity. I have also made a couple visits to Nigeria (2008 and 2010), where my husband is from.
