I am a 22 year old South African who is currently working in Thailand as a second language high school teacher. I am a Bachelor of Commerce graduate with a major in Accounting. I teach English Communicative and Physical Education & Health to students between the ages of 12 and 14. In May, I will be completing my one year contract. I am applying to be an English Language Teacher.
I have been teaching in a public school in Chonburi, Thailand from May 2016. In the time thiat I have been here, I have gained valuable experience in teaching and have obtained numerous life skills that can be applied to the work environment. Apart from teaching classes with a large number of students, I have had the opportunity to privately tutor one-on-one as well as small groups. I tutored Accounting to a grade 12 South African student who was being homeschooled in United Arab Emirates while I was visiting my mother. I also tutored English to a group of eight grade 10 girls in Thailand. Having being able to teach in different types of settings has enable me to be a more confident teacher. I am able to think more creatively when planning lessons and adapt my methods of teaching to cater to the different levels of students.
